Violinist, violist. Currently, Teaching Artist, ClassNotes, the Noel Pointer Foundation, member of Harlem Chamber Players, Pressenda Chamber Players; Music Director, Harlem Symphony Orchestra.  Formerly: Artist Faculty, Brevard Music Center, Interlochen Center for the Arts, Apple Hill Center for Chamber Music, Tennessee Governor’s School for the Arts, Bennington Chamber Music Conference, University of North Carolina School of the Arts (Summer), Aria International Academy, London, Ontario; conductor, Old Dominion University Chamber Orchestra, Atlanta University Center Orchestra. Visiting faculty, Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music; faculty, James Madison University.  Performances in the US, Israel, Canada, South and Central America, Switzerland, India, Japan, Nigeria, Hong Kong, and the Caribbean.

Member of The United States Air Force Band performing as premier violinist in numerous high-protocol and community events for 24 years. With colleague, Robin Massie, won first place in the 2023 inaugural Misbin Family Memorial Chamber Music Competition. Featured guest artist at Indiana University South Bend “Lift Every Voice” Concert. Featured performer at the French Embassy, performing chamber music of Chevalier de Saint Georges for 2023 Washington International Film Festival. Performs with the National Philharmonic, Colour of Music Festival, Maryland Symphony, the Soulful Symphony, and numerous solo and ensemble engagements. Other performances: the Gateways Festival, Cabrillo Festival with conductor Marin Alsop, Ritz Chamber Players and St. Augustine Music Festival. Violinist at Aspen Music Festival, the National Orchestral Institute, the Johannesen International School of the Arts in Victoria, Canada.  Teaching experience includes Baltimore School for the Arts TWIGS Program (7 years), Ottley Music School, Nathan Carter School of Music at New Shiloh Baptist Church, the Gilman School, and Gettysburg College. Additional studies with the Emerson and Juilliard String Quartets, and Mark O’Connor String Seminar, Berklee College of Music.

M. Ed. in Jazz Drumming and Percussion Methodology, University of LaVerne; M.S. in Psychology, University of LaVerne; B.S. Music Education/Percussion, Howard University; additional Studies at the Eastman School of Music

Drummer/Percussionist Greg C. Holloway is a native of Washington, D.C., where he received an undergraduate degree in Music Education, with a minor in Percussion Performance from Howard University.  He also participated in the Jazz Studies programs at the Eastman School of Music.  Greg later pursued a Master of Education with an emphasis on jazz drumming and percussion methodology and a Masters of Science in Psychology from the University of LaVerne in Southern California.

Greg was a career U.S. Air Force Band percussionist, serving in several Air Force Field Bands.  While in the Air Force, Greg advanced to percussion section leader, Music Director of jazz ensembles, rock/jazz bands, and ceremonial units and also contributed to the percussion training standards.  After twenty years of meritorious service, Greg developed a thriving and competitive percussion program at Flint Hill School in Virginia from 2001-2021.  The program is one of the only “stand alone” ensembles in the country with curricula for three separate divisions – Lower, Middle and Upper schools.  Greg has also held the position of Applied Adjunct Drum Set at American University and managed an active studio roster.  He is a member of the Percussive Arts Society and has several percussion compositions published.

As a versatile drummer/percussionist, Greg’s career is very diverse.  In addition to the Air Force, he has held several seats ranging from Principal Timpanist for the Anchorage Symphony; show drummer in Palm Springs backing entertainers ranging from Rich Little, Sheri Lewis to Blackstone the Magician, theater staff drummer/percussionist, Hank Jones, Carol Fontana, Jim Pugh, Jimmy Heath, Vanessa Rubin, Rob McConnell, Aretha Franklin’s (East Coast) Percussionist for 12 years, and drummer for Martha Reeves and the Vandellas (3 years), Mary Wilson, Freda Payne, and many other Motown legends.

Greg continues to be a committed educator sharing many years and experiences with his students.

Assistant Conductor, Georgetown University Orchestra, Washington, DC.  Graduate Assistant / Assistant Conductor, Georgia State University.  Assistant Conductor, National Chorus of Cuba.  Performed in concert tours in Florida, Colorado, California, Massachusetts, New York, Washington DC, North Carolina, Illinois, and Cuba.  Worked with Andrea Bocelli, Orbert Devis, Paulinho da Costa, Jeff Marx, Chicago Jazz Philharmonic, and the National Philharmonic of Cuba, among other renowned artists and groups.  Sang with the National Symphony of Cuba, and the Chamber Orchestra of Havana.  Conductor and Found, Ensemble Vocal ALMA.  Conductor, “Mano a Mano” vocal ensemble in USA Tour.  Recorded the single “You have more friends than you know” by Jeff Marx with the collaboration of Paulinho da Costa, Los Angeles, CA.  Professor, Department of University Extension, University of the Arts, ISA, Havana, Cuba.  Instructor, National School of Art, Havana, and Conservatory of Music, Pinar del Rio, Cuba.
