Washington Conservatory Orchestra

Open to amateur adult musicians of all levels, the Washington Conservatory Orchestra provides participants the opportunity to learn and perform both traditional and lesser-known orchestral literature with like-minded avid adult musicians in a friendly professional atmosphere. The orchestra performs three public concerts each year.

The Accord Symphony Orchestra

Open to professional and talented amateur musicians, the Accord Symphony Orchestra, now in its 9th Season, has presented +100 concerts since its founding in 2017 by Andrew Lee. The orchestra made its Kennedy Center debut in 2019 as part of theREACH opening and returned to present a world premiere in March 2024. Other engagements include performances at The Embassies of Spain and China, The Chrysalis, theWHARF, and more.

Pressenda Chamber Players

Pressenda Chamber Players, the Washington Conservatory Ensemble in Residence, is a chamber music ensemble of strings, piano, and guest artists, named for Giovanni Pressenda (1777-1854), maker of the instruments played by Founder, Artistic Director, and cellist Tobias Werner and violinist Aaron Berofsky. The Pressenda Chamber Players perform works of all eras for duos, trios, quartets, quintets, sextets, and octets, and is comprised of world-class musicians from throughout the United States.

Washington Conservatory Jazz Players

Marty Nau, Ensemble Director

The Washington Conservatory Jazz Players, led by acclaimed saxophonist Marty Nau, bring vibrant energy and artistry to every stage they grace. This premier ensemble represents the jazz legacy of the Washington Conservatory of Music and has performed at distinguished venues and events including the National Cherry Blossom Festival, Glen Echo Park Art Walk, and the Washington Conservatory’s 40th Anniversary Gala. Their performances celebrate the spirit of jazz while connecting generations through rhythm, improvisation, and community.

Washington Conservatory Capital Horns

Amy Horn, Founder; Jeff Bianchi, Director

Capital Horns of Washington Conservatory of Music was founded by Amy Horn in June 2017 to create a central forum for horn players in the area to rehearse, play, and perform. Capital Horns, under the direction of Jeff Bianchi, meet at Glen Echo Park on the second and fourth Sunday of each month, from 6 to 7:30 pm, to rehearse transcriptions, arrangements, and original works for horn ensemble. Capital Horns has performed at Georgetown University, Glen Echo Park, Vienna Presbyterian Church, and First Congregational UCC. The group is featured at George Mason University’s annual Horn Day. Capital Horns welcomes players of all ages and skill levels who want to make music with this wonderful instrument in a friendly and supportive environment.

Chamber Music Academy

In-person chamber music coaching for beginning, intermediate, or advanced preformed ensembles are arranged on an individual basis. Coaching with performing artist faculty is provided for amateur chamber music ensembles who would like to refine their ensemble playing or work on specific repertoire.
