Washington Conservatory of Music will host a Chamber Music Play-in on Saturday, May 20, 2 pm – 5 pm as part of the ACMP Worldwide Play-in Weekend, an annual celebration that unites people of all ages and abilities through their common love of chamber music. The event is free and open to the public.
Q: What is a chamber music play-in?
A: Reading chamber music together, just for the fun of it.
Q: Where is it?
A: Washington Conservatory Campus at Glen Echo Park, 7300 MacArthur Blvd., Glen Echo, MD 20812 (Parking is available in the lot off of MacArthur Blvd.)
Q: Who is invited?
A: All adult pianists, string, and wind players are welcome! Three grand pianos are available for piano repertoire.
Q: Am I good enough?
A: Yes! Players will receive suggested groups according to ability.
Q: What music will I play?
A: You are welcome to bring your own music, suggest pieces, or be assigned to a group or two by WCM staff.
Q: With whom will I play?
A: Initial groups and repertoire will be suggested based on RSVPs. However, you are welcome to form groups according to available space.
Q: What if I’m not sure if I can attend?
A: Drop-ins are welcome and will be accommodated if possible.
Q: What if I just want to listen?
A: Great.
Q: What if I can’t stay for the whole time?
A: Come when you can.
Q: What if I get hungry?
A: Participants are encouraged to bring food and drink to share!
