Faculty members of the Washington Conservatory of Music, a nationally accredited community music school in Bethesda and Glen Echo Park, will perform at 8 pm on Saturday, November 3, in a Faculty Showcase Celebration of Music Benefit Concert.
Sponsored by the Washington Conservatory of Music, the concert will be performed at Westmoreland Congregational UCC Church, One Westmoreland Circle at Massachusetts and Western Avenues, the boundary of DC and Bethesda.
The concert will feature a potpourri of solos and duos for winds, strings, piano, and voice from many musical eras, including compositions by Beethoven, Brahms, Liszt, Ravel, Hovhaness, MacDonald, Purcell, and a world premiere of Sonatina for flute and piano by Washington DC composer Haskell Small.
Faculty performers include soprano Nancy Almquist, flutist David Lonkevich, clarinetist Suzanne Gekker, baritone Aurelius Gori, cellist Drew Owen, violinists Zina Gendel and Kathy Judd, pianists Audrey Andrist, Lydia Frumkin, Maribeth Gowen, Dionne Laufman, Jaewon Lee, Haskell Small, and viola d’amore performer George Ohlson.
Washington Conservatory is noted for its artist-faculty members who include winners of major national and international competitions, musicians who have performed throughout the world, and who have appeared as soloists with orchestras such as the Cleveland Orchestra, National Symphony, Baltimore Symphony, and Pan American Symphony.
Donations at the door will support scholarships for deserving young students.
Parking is on-street on Massachusetts and Western Avenues and in the parking lot of Westmoreland Congregational UCC church.
