Celebration of Music Benefit Concert

Faculty members of the Washington Conservatory of Music, a nationally accredited community music school in Bethesda and Glen Echo Park, will perform at 3 pm on Sunday, February 5, in a Faculty Spotlight Celebration of Music Benefit Concert.

Sponsored by the Washington Conservatory of Music, the concert will be performed at Westmoreland Congregational UCC Church, One Westmoreland Circle at Massachusetts and Western Avenues, the boundary of DC and Bethesda.

The concert will feature a potpourri of winds, strings, piano, and voice, music by composers of many musical eras, and both solo and ensemble performances. Washington Conservatory is noted for its international artist-faculty members who include winners of major competitions and who have performed with orchestras such as the New York Philharmonic, Cleveland Orchestra, National Symphony, Baltimore Symphony, Royal Philharmonic of London, Pan American Symphony.

The concert will include portions of Beethoven cello & piano sonata in A Maj, op. 69, performed by cellist Drew Owen and pianist Haskell Small; Poulenc Piano Sonata for 4 hands performed by Ilya Sinaisky and Jaewon Lee; Irish music for fiddle, bodhran, flute and bouzouki performed by Mitch Fanning, Jesse Winch, Tina Eck, and Keith Carr; jazz favorites by saxophonist Marty Nau and pianist Wayne Wilentz, Prologe and The Wyf of Biside Bathe, taken from Four Fragments from THE CANTERBURY TALES by Geoffrey Chaucer composed by Lester Trimble performed by soprano Nancy Almquist, flutist Virginia Nanzetta, clarinetist Suzanne Gekker, pianist Jaewon Lee; and Ysaye Ballade, performed by violinist Kevin Jang, and more.

Donations at the door will support scholarships for deserving young students.

Parking
Parking is on-street on Massachusetts and Western Avenues and in the parking lot of Westmoreland Congregational UCC church.
