Violinist James Buswell will join the Pressenda Chamber Players to perform their inaugural concert for the opening concert of the 2016-17 series of the Washington Conservatory Concerts.
The Pressenda Chamber Players, an exciting new ensemble of strings and piano, named for Giovanni Pressenda (1777-1854) maker of instruments played by two members, makes its Washington area debut performing Piano Quartet in C Major, Op 23 by Arthur Foote and Piano Trio in B-flat Major, Op. 97 (Archduke) by Ludwig van Beethoven. Pressenda Chamber Players Artistic Director, Tobias Werner said “I am thrilled and honored to have this amazing musician join our ensemble and am certain our audiences will share my joy.” Other members of the ensemble performing on this concert include Amadi Azikiwe, viola; Tobias Werner, cello and Victor Asuncion, piano. This is the first of four concerts by the ensemble as Ensemble-in-Residence for the 2016-17 Washington Conservatory concert season.
James Buswell has performed as a solo violinist with virtually all of the major orchestras in North America, and throughout Europe, Asia, South America, and Australia, performing over one hundred solo works for violin and orchestra. Early in his career he was an artist-member of the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center in New York. More+
Amadi Azikiwe, violist has been heard in recital in major cities throughout the United States including an appearance at the U.S Supreme Court and guest appearances with chamber ensembles including the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center. More+
Cellist Tobias Werner is the music director of The Chamber Music Conference of the East, as well as Artistic Director and Founder of the Pressenda Chamber Players. He has appeared in chamber music concerts throughout the world and in local venues including the Phillips Collection, the Library of Congress, the National Gallery of Art, and the Smithsonian American Art Museum. Pianist Victor Santiago Asuncion has performed in recital in Japan, Mexico, Canada and his native Philippines, as well as major venues in the United States. He is a frequent collaborator with cellist Lynn Harrell and with violinist Daniel Heifetz and is on the chamber music faculty of the Aspen Music Festival. More+
The Washington Conservatory is a nationally accredited community music school for students of all ages. The Conservatory welcomes both seasoned and novice classical concert-goers and encourages families to attend our concerts with their children. Back balcony seating is suggested for families with small children as a courtesy to other audience members and to allow for easy exit.
Parking is on-street on Massachusetts and Western Avenues and in the parking lot of Westmoreland Congregational UCC church.
