Ayreheart is a group formed to play the original music of Ronn McFarlane. His music is a unique blend of folk, classical, jazz and bluegrass genres. Ayreheart members are Ronn McFarlane, lute, Mindy Rosenfeld, harp and flutes, Elizabeth Hungerford, vocalist, Willard Morris, bass and Mattias Rucht, percussion.

McFarlane has toured throughout the US, Canada, and Europe as a soloist and member of the Baltimore Consort and is a former faculty member at Peabody Conservatory. McFarlane's first CD of original compositions, Indigo Road, received a Grammy nomination for the Best Classical Crossover Album of 2009.

The Wall Street Journal wrote: "McFarlane, for his part, is a master lutenist who's seemingly distilled countless influences and yet maintained the uniqueness of his instrument...anyone impressed with the dexterity required by speed rock ought to see what Mr. McFarlane does when he flashes his fingers across the fretboard of a stout lute. Little wonder his performance received a standing ovation.”

Pianist Haskell Small, who will share the evening's performance with Ayreheart, will perform Partita in D Major by J.S. Bach. Hailed by England’s Musical Times for his “dazzlingly prodigious technique,” Small has concertized with great success in major European capitals, South America, Japan, and China, and has been enthusiastically received by American audiences in such venues as Carnegie Hall, the Kennedy Center and the Spoleto Festival. A prize winner in the Johann Sebastian Bach International Piano Competition, Mr. Small has received numerous awards and has been featured in the nationally broadcasted PBS special, “A Celebration of the Piano." Small is Chair of the piano department of the Washington Conservatory.
