The Washington Conservatory of Music is pleased to offer an array of music classes and one-on-one music lessons at our Glen Echo Park location. All classes are taught by our esteemed faculty of performing artists and music educators at our music studio. Classes for School-Aged Children

Movie Songs for Kids! (Ages 4 - 7 years) | Register (opens Jan 31)

Recorder for Kids! (Ages 5 - 7 years) | Contact Us or Register

At Glen Echo Park. Learn to play the soprano recorder and the basics of music such as note reading, rhythm and tone. This class is an excellent bridge between Early Childhood Music classes and beginning individual lessons for other instruments. For the final class, students will perform for parents. Students who complete this class may continue study with an intermediate class or individual lessons as recommended by the teacher. Students may bring a recorder or purchase one from the Conservatory (assorted, limited colors). 8 sessions. $190, includes book.

At Glen Echo Park. Learn to play this little gem of an instrument and be part of the ukulele wave that's sweeping the ocean. At Glen Echo Park. Class focuses on traditional Kerry-style of playing emphasizing drum positioning, stick control, basic styles. Tune types include jig, reel, hornpipe, slip jig, slide, polka. At Glen Echo Park. Intermediate level. Covers techniques of accompaniment for jigs, reels, hornpipes, etc. with focus on rhythm patterns, constructing chord progressions. Bouzouki tuning will be GDAD; guitarists may use any tuning provided it allows for standard major and minor chords. Recording device helpful. Must provide own instrument.
